I am a seeker- like a bird soaring high in the sky, in that moment of flying- a blissful state in the air, where you are free- full of space, a vast expanse of azure blue sky!
Let me dance, dance and dance, like the bird that flies in the boundless skies, higher and higher, farther and farther up the wide, blue horizon!
–Dr. Geeta Radhakrishna
An exponent of the classical dance of Mohiniattam, Dr. Geeta Radhakrishna is an artist of creative excellence. As an apprentice of Kalamandalam Kalyanikutty Amma, Dr. Geeta has kept true to the traditional dance form of Mohiniattam. She has systematized the Mohiniattam Adavus and Mudras through thematic dance representations that cover the comprehensive techniques of Adavus in her book entitled “Mohiniattam Adavus”.
Mohiniattam, known as the Dance of the Enchantress, follows the Lasya dance form and has it’s origins from our “God’s own country-Kerala”. As a sensitive danseuse, Dr. Geeta found her forte in solo expositions on bold and varied themes through this traditional art platform. With the overwhelming success of her publication of organized documentation of Mohiniattam, Dr. Geeta further delved into the historical background of this mysterious dance form with emphasis on repertoire and choreography through her second book titled “Mohiniattam- the dance of the enchantress”.
